Hotwire has been the worst!!! We have had 3 bad experiences in a row. The only reason we continued to use them was because they gave us Hotwire dollars to drag us back into their horrible schemes. We just rented a standard car from them. When we went to pick up the car, it was compact. Hotwire said they could cancel my reservation that day but they couldn't guarantee we would be refunded. Once we returned the car, I contacted the horrible company Hotwire partnered with and they said Hotwire would have to refund us. Hotwire did confirm that we were downgraded and should be entitled to $134.04 but refused to give us money and only offered to yet give us another credit to use with them in the future! They are a fraud!

Hotwire AP service sucks. I went on the AP to book a hotel close to my friend I was going to visit in New York but I guess hotwire wasn't happy with me staying there. So I went to the hotel I had planned on staying at and they said I didn't have a reservation or paid for the room, so finally found out that I was charged and reserved for a different hotel that I didn't want. So they tell me that the $400 I didn't use can not be given back to me. I guess they weren't happy with the hotel I wanted so they booked me somewhere else. Even though I didn't stay the the hotel got money and hotwire got theirs. It's pretty much the way it is now days we make our money and screw the customer. I will never ever recommend hotwire to anybody ever again and I need to figure out how to get as many thousands of potential customers to understand it's all about the money and screw the customer. Oh and the even better fact is you can almost not get away from something that is totally electronic. Real people don't exist for these crappy companies anymore. I hope since they stole money from me I can cost them thousands if not millions of dollars because they don't give a crap about the customer.

I had a horrible experience with a Hotwire car rental. The last time I used their service they assigned me a car company named Sixt. I had a problem with this car company overcharging me in the past, and I called Hotwire right after they assigned them to me, to ask to switch me to ANY other company. They refused. When I went to the Sixt counter on the exact day and time of my reservation, they refused to rent to me, because I had filed a previous complaint against them. I paid Sixt in full, through Hotwire, when I previously rented from them, but complained about receiving an additional charge on my credit card two weeks after I returned from my trip. They said it was for an upgrade that I never asked for. Even though they would not provide a rental car they refused to refund my money because the reservation and payment was made through Hotwire. I called Hotwire and they totally refused to help in any way. They refused to get me a car from another car company or refund my money. They left me high and dry at the airport. I have tried numerous times to reason with Hotwire but they have been rude and shown zero customer service. They hide behind their blanket statement of no refunds for any reason. That can't be allowed to stand when one of their vendors refuses service. They are not above the law, no matter what their mantra is. They call what they did theft in this country. They got paid, Sixt got paid and I was left with nothing to show for my money. I plan on contacting other agencies to see if we, the pubic, can stop these practices by companies that think they are too big to fail. Maybe a class action suit will bring them the publicity they deserve. I didn't cancel or change my reservation and didn't know that Sixt wouldn't rent to me because I used my God given American right to speak up when I was wronged. Hotwire is unwilling to listen and take each case on it's own merit. I will never use them again and hope that others who have seen them for who they are, do the same. I welcome Hotwire to contact me and resolve my complaint, if they have any integrity left.

Be careful booking on Hotwire they will not give you a refund no matter of the situation but I will make sure I get mine back. I cancel my rental and now I'm going back and forth about my refund.

I have an 8 year old daughter that has brain cancer Our 12-year-old daughtergot my wallet and went online and made reservations for a trip for her. We told the kids that we couldn't go because we just lost our jobs but the 12 year olds heart was broken for eight year old sister..I asked hot water to cancel it and they refused. So hot wire has stolen $1200 from my family and my child's with brain cancer and refuses to give it back. These people are thieves how can you charge someone for a rental car that they never used? How can you steal money from someone by refusing to give it back to them for a product or a service they never received? These people are dirty rotten scoundrel thieves. I asked hotwire to cancel it and they refused. So hot wire has stolen $1200 from my family and my child's with brain cancer and refuses to give it back. I Was Looking Forward To A Family Trip To Orlando Fl In May 2021, Booked And Paid For In Full My Rental Car Via Hotwire For 772.00 With A Bank Debit Car. As Of May 17th I Was A Victim Of Fraud. My Bank Closed My Checking Account. I Called Hotwire On The 18th To Cancel My Reservation. I Couldnt Be Issued A Refund Since My Bank Account Was Closed! So They Issued Me A Credit. I Had No Other Choice. Today On June10th I Call Hotwire Accounting And The Rep Herself Told Me That The Refund Could Of Been Issued To Your Bank And The Bank Would Of Handled It On Thier End. But Still They Wont Issue Me A Refund Because The Credit Has Been Issued In Hotwire Credits. You Have My Money. Paid With A Debit Card, Not A Credit Card. I Should Be Issued A Refund. I Will Report This To The Better Business Bureau.

On 5/28/21, I made reservations through Hotwire, confirmation # 1777204614 and was booked at Seaside All Suite, in Miami, FL. I called Seaside to check about parking for guests. I was told that there was no reservations under my name. I called Hotwire and informed them of the same. The reservation at Seaside was cancelled and agreed to take a hit of $60 cancellation which I still disagree with. The reservationist, Seth, said that I could use the $412.60 in "hot dollars" to be applied to the new reservation at Newport Beachside Resort, # 6765629663. For some unknown reason I was charged the full amount of $717.17 and the "hot dollars" was never applied. The difference I should have been charged is $305.17. So in essence, I have been doubled charged. I've had extensive conversations with Hotwire to resolve. I'm reaching out to you for assistance and for full refund. Thank you so much.

I eco the comments about their Greed, I booked a car and I wanted to extend the dates as my airlines cancelled the flight, they did not have cars on stock, they told me I could not get a refund but I was going to the "hotwire Credits", I was not happy and the operator disconnect me. When, I looked in my account I was never issued a credit. I have been trying find a resolution without success, It was over $600, for a first responder, after a year working with Covid patients, It was a slap in the face! We should start a class action suit

Hotwire should be posted on American Greed for all of the BS that their company creates. They leave you on hold for long periods of time, they lie and tell you that you will receive a refund and that doesn't happen, and they lie and say that they will call you back to resolve your issues and that doesn't happen either.

I was on a Delta airlines flight to Dtw Detroit metropolitan airport i booked a car from hot wire Hugh mistake when I landed and took the shuttle to the car rental company they informed me that I had to use a credit card in which I had left at home I had already paid for the car with my fidelity debit card I was stranded and didn't have a car to get to my destination l called Hotwire to find out if I could get a refund or go another rental car company in the area no one would help me I have the app I message customer service and talk to someone in customer service in which I explained to the customer service agent about my situation they will very rude and told in the message that would be my problem I ask the agent for a supervisor at that point he/ she disconnected the message

My mother was lying on her deathbed in the hospital, so I had to cancel my AirBnB, Airline tickets and Rental Car for Spring Break. I provided a letter from the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital. The AirBnB refunded our money; the airline gave us a credit, but Hotwire went back-n-forth with us for hours about being unable to rotate the letter. Then, they claimed the letter was not valid. They requested a letter from my mother;s doctor, which we thought was absurd! My mother had passed and we still had not gotten a refund. To this day, the unscrupplous company has not refunded our money. My wife and I filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office. As soon as I find the coporate CEO's home address, I will contact her or him immediately. Do not use this company. They are incompetent.

I made a reservation for a rental car but was unable to travel due to medical reasons. Hotwire customer service required me to provide a doctor's note for the cancelation.

then I went ahead and provided the doctor's note but the representatives did not accept it and added a new requirement: the doctor's note language had to be in English.

The 300 customer service representatives I talked to when I requested the cancelation failed to make a language request and never said the doctor's note had to be in English, which is stupid because it is in Spanish and Spanish is one of the two most popular languages in the USA, which by the way has NO OFFICIAL LANGUAGE! English is not the official language therefore this is language discrimination from Hotwire, which happens to hire thousands of employees in Latin America due to high demand from Spanish-speaking customers like myself.

The doctor's note was sent to Hotwire customer service, have one of your customer service representatives translate it and issue me a refund of $241.92 back to my credit card.

For over four years now, I have been trying to get HOTWIRE to decouple my personal email address from another one of their clients. They constantly send me their other clients travel plans, car rental information, confirmations, and surveys. I have their other clients home address, phone number, etc. Isn't it illegal for them to share personal, confidential information with me for another client? I have spent hours on the phone with their customer service representatives whom always promise to fix the problem but never actually fix it. My name is in my email address which I have had for over 14 years.

I am totally disgusted with hotwire and their so called customer service. You would think, that during a pandemic they would have some sort of integrity or understanding for those who are effected. Just another big company that does'nt care about anything but collecting your money! Never Again!

I am having the same experience as SoniaK. The law that changed now says the following, which means it literally became illegal for us to pick up the car, but hotwire doesn't care and is not actively communicating with their vendors to resolve it. Our reservaion is weeks away and we are not costing anyone any money, yet they refuse to cancel. They are heartless and greedy. Hotwire should be ashamed.

pursuant to Section IV of this Proclamation are prohibited from renting motor
vehicles in the State, whether through a rental car company, online service, or
through a peer-to-peer platform or car sharing service including but not limited to

We rented a car for our trip to Kauai for two days when the COVID restrictions was to have a negative test 3 day prior to the flight. Just this weekend the restriction for Kauai have changed to a Mandatory 14 day quarantine upon arrival to Kauai. The airlines has provided a full refund since this is a state mandated policy. I contacted Hotwire with this new information and was basically informed that they don't care and won't refund my money. The manager Haizal H. Stated that quarantine doesn't mean we can't travel, I am not sure what manager course or customer relations course these manager go through but they have NO IDEA how to deal with people or even follow state mandated policies. I informed Haizal that I don't have vacation time to spend in quarantine and my trip to Kauai was only for 2 days and she stated that they don't give refunds, no matter the reason and I can contact the corporate office and they would say the same. The cooperate office is not even open. I was also informed that they are not concerned with BBB. When I came to the corporate website, I realized from the other comments that I am not the only one being screwed over. I have been a loyal customer for over 20 yrs. but I will NEVER use them again. I would recommend everyone to report them to BBB, that is the only way for change.

I was told I would get a refund being that I had to cancel my traveling arrangements due to Covid. I have to quarantine for 14 days and I also provided a letter from my doctor stating so. I had an agent and supervisor tell me that QUARANTINE doesn't mean I can't travel. This is the most disgusting and ignorant response I've ever heard. This company is insensitive and definitely needs to educate themselves on whats really going on in the world. If quarantine doesn't mean you can't travel, as per these agents, no wonder this pandemic is not getting better. People are losing their lives and their family due to this virus and it is not to be taken lightly. Shame on every person I've come in contact with who has shown a blatant disregard for human life in a time so critical.

I'm trying book a car going from Grand rapids Michigan to Toledo Ohio I have a $61 credit I have multiple people from your company tell me I have to do it a certain way and each one of them is a different way so I need to know how to do this so I can use my credit cuz I cannot afford to rent this car for two days without the credit but I cannot talk to a human being. Which has been impossible I've been trying for two days

Do not use!!!! Rented a car with unlimited milage but when I go and get the car they say it was limited to 100 miles, they wouldn't change, cancel or accommodate our needs. Waste of money and horrible experience. Do not use them!!!!

Cancelled a trip on 3/13/2020 when its purpose was canceled due to the pandemic. I notified Hotwire that same day that I was canceling a two-night hotel reservation, and also spoke to the hotel directly the same day. The hotel clerk told me they were waiving all cancelation fees, which I included in my notice to Hotwire. The hotel also directly notified Hotwire that it was waiving cancellation fees, and I have emailed copies of the hotel manager's email waiving fees NUMEROUS times. Hotwire just keeps denying notice. RIPOFF CENTRAL! No other booking company was so slimy when I canceled.

Had a car rental to pick up and drop off at an airport. My flight was cancelled due to covid so they issued me voucher but I obviously couldn't get the car in LAX as I live in Boston if I didn't have a flight. Had me wait 2 months to then tell me they will not refund or credit me. WORST company EVER

Hello allow me to introduce myself, I am Gary...known as the Hotwire King of Houston. I use hotwire all the time. thousands and thousands of dollars have flowed from my wallet to hotwire and I have convinced many a friend to do the same.

That is why I am appalled and devastated by the fact that Hotwire booked me for a hotel that I paid for in advance and made arrangements for travel but when I arrived the hotel did not have a room. Of course I contacted the customer service considering I was left out on the streets. This was an ordeal of epic proportions.

Not only did I spend 2 hours on the phone using all my phone battery, but they were unsuccessful in placing me in another hotel after they verified with the hotel I booked for Memorial Day weekend was overbooked by hotwire. I was told to wait online multiple times with the end result of no place to stay at 11pm at night. I couldn't even get them to place me in a nearby city to Austin like San Antonio. Instead, I spent the night in my car at a park!!!!!!!!!!! what a wonderful memorial day weekend that was. I missed my event and stunk to high heaven with no place to freshen up. Thank you hotwire.... I consider myself scorched!!

Here's the kicker. The customer service rep stated that Hotwire would compensate me for my inconvenience with the max compensation--a whopping $25.00 in hotdollars. yes you read that right twentyfive dollars!. Don't consider the face that I spent hundreds of dollars on gas and food and prepaid event that all went for naught. That doesn't even cover 1/3 of the gas and no good for any other lodging which wasn't available. I am still worked up and aghast over this. I called customer service again on 6/8 and spent 30 minutes on hold at work to get a supervisor then left my email and phone number because I had to actually work. guess what, no follow up. This sucks.

Hotwire can you please please please come correct? I have loved your services over the years but how can I have any confidence booking in the future? you are about to lose an extremely loyal customer--the hotwire king of Houston to be exact. I would have expected at least a free hotel stay of my choice plus coverage of my lost expenses. Nope nothing like that . can you fix this please

When we got to the hotel Hotwire booked for us we did not have a reservation (the motel did not have the name we booked under). However, the motel did honor the Hotwire rate. When we contacted Hotwire, the persons we talked with (had an accent) seemed to have been using prepared statements for responding to complaints. Once when I called, the person put me on hold while he supposed to have talked with the motel. However, I was connected with someone who asked for personal information, which I reluctantly gave since I place the call. After the Hotwire person did not come back on the line I wonder if I was connected with someone, other than a Hotwire person, to give them my personal information. When I asked to talked to a supervisor, he said that was not allowed. When I attempted to send a complaint to Hotwire Headquarters, the letter returned, without being opened, with a statement on the letter saying the letter could not be delivered as addressed. The letter was sent Market St. in San Francisco, the address given on the internet.

A terrible Company!!!!! poor customer service skills, false pretense, as well as false advertisement. This company lead you to believe that you are getting such a good deal, along with the selections that you have made. However, after making all of the necessary selections, entering your credit information, and booking, you find out that it is something completely different than what you had chosen. The only excuse that they give you is, you should have read the fine print. I will NEVER use this company again, and will also inform my family and friends not to use them.

I book my flight and an error message appear saying that they did not tak money out of my card but when I check my bank account they took it..I call them for my flight they said that offer was not workin anymore n give me 4153438808 which is a damn vm and no one ever return your calls

Turning 50 so I decided to go to Vegas. Booked through Hotwire in April, taking trip July 10-16. Ready to go, flight canceled due to weather. No fault of theirs,but this is where the nightmare comes. On my own I called United to ask for a one day push back on my flight because I wanted to stay the six days I planned. Called Hotwire, Zenny was my FIRST representative. Explained to her I wanted to change due to weather, she said she would call United. I told her I already did, but she did anyway. Then I said I want to move my hotel back just the same as flight. Zenny told me that she would have to cancel my original reservation and then rebook. The nightmare from HELL starts here. After she cancels my reservations she claims she couldn't rebook it so she started me a line of those who claimed could help me. Please be aware this call started at 9pm. In short after talking to about 10 other representatives, some twice, no one was helpful. I knew and was confirmed from a rep that this was an agent error. With no help and a cab reserved to take me to the airport at 4am, I finally hung up at 3:15 am to find a place to stay in Vegas. Had flight, but nowhere to stay. This was my first visit to Vegas so I had no idea and had to select cold turkey. I went from being excited about staying at the Excalibur to staying at Palace Station. Hotwire made this the worst birthday gift ever. My entire trip was ruined because I was so far away it was either take the hotel shuttle which stopped at 11pm or cab it. That was not an option because I already had my funds planned. I plan to write someone in hopes that my trip is compensated with another trip for my distress of staying on the phone for six hours, dealing with customer services reps and manager who absolutely nothing. I only hope that Hotwire is a company of their word and hold up their reputation. Also posting this to my TripAdvisor page and good intention to contact my local tv station on buyer beware.

DO NOT USE HOTWIRE!! My flight was cancelled back in April (as I attempted to visit my 105 yr old grandmother), due to weather and this is when the nightmare began. I called a week later after being issued a credit and waiver for the change of dates. I was transferred to at least 5 difference people and had to explain the same story each and everytime. This time I wanted to add my grandson to the trip as we were going to visit my grandmother, I was told Hotwire could not book his flight and that we had to travel separately ( he is 7 yrs old), I asked for a refund to re-book my own flights, they refused even after speaking to supervisors and being connected to Airtran. I was so frustrated and defenseless as these people have my hardearned money. fast forward...I call today thinking there would be different results,I have spoken to 6 different people since this morning ( as I attempt to work) and was hung up on by Debbie T because I did not want to accept the flight times she wanted me to have, instead of me being able to choose the flight convenient for me. I call back a 7th time and after being placed on hold, the supervisor in customer service advises me that no one is available to speak with me...I need to travel in one week!. This is by far the condensed version of my horror. I am frustrated, angry and don't know where else to turn

I booked a flight in 4/2012 & cancelled it in 5/2012. I was told I had until May 2013 to use the Credit. I called today to use it and was told the Credit expired in April. I explained that was not the information I was given & even had detailed dates, represenatives name, etc; however, I was told 'they understand how I must be disappointed.' After having my call escalated 3 times, I asked for a direct # to a supervisor and was told 'no one has a phone - not even at the Corporate Office.' Seriously? Now they are suppose to be reviewing the recording from my call & will let me know. I expressed I too would like to hear the recording & they said 'that's not possible.' What a disappointment & complete lack of INTEGRITY and CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Im done talking to Customer Service/Manager.Im filling charges against HotWire Ive talked to my lawyer and i have a case.I paid for a rental on my credit card,got to rental place and couldnt get the rental.HotWire send me an email telln me that funds would be transferred BACK into my acct.Funds were transferred back into my acct then taking bck out on the same day! I sent bank statement to Hotwire as they requested.It has been a month and i still dont have my funds transfered back into my acct.I was told funds would be in my acct on the April 25 2013..noo funds! Hotwire should not have taking funds bck out of my acct...i never got a rental! I want my money back they can mail me a check instead of putting it back in my account! At this point i dont trust them!

Never use Hotwire-I called on 2/8 and made a reservation for auto rental in Las Vegas for 3/22-3/25 at $12 95 per day. I got an email confirmation from them and assumed that the man that made the reservation did it correctly. WRONG!!! I went today to enter the trip info in my iPad and saw he booked the car for 2/22-2/25. Called Hotwire and the only thing they will do is book me another car at $27.95 per day and not allow me to use my $72.17 credit against that but keep it as a credit for another year. I will post what they did all over Facebook and Twitter and so will my attorney son and my real estate broker son and they will lose much more than $72.17. Never again Hotwire!

My very first time using Hotwire and my very last. I booked a car for this weekend that just past and due to bad weather in the area that I was traveling to I wanted to cancel or get my money back because I was not trying to drive in bad weather. I talk to some one over at the weather channel and they told me that it would not be safe if I was to travel that weekend. I been trying to get them to understand how I feel as a customer but all they care about is getting and keeping my money. I never went to get the car and I just want my money back, I will do anything and everything I have to do to get my money back for the car I never used.

I would never use them again I have always used them. I used my last 80 and booked a hotel to only hear that I have to call a number leave a voice mail and never received a phone call I express to the manager that I will have to sleep in my car (Debbie T) that cant give out her full name or employee number. She was rude enough to tell me thats a risk I took the risk with knowing I might sleep in my car. Do not use this company. Each rep had a different story and had the audacity to give me a fake address for their corporate office. Even told me th wrong state. USE ANYONE BIT HOTWIRE. they are unproffessional and liars.

As I was making perhaps my 15th reservation, I got an error message. Many calls and waits later, the answer was the same: you account has been closed and we are not allowed to give further information. Your account will not be reopened; you can try a different account but it will be closed. So much for customer satisfaction and loyalty!!! Each time a number is given: 415 343 8808. Listen to it. "BBBBBBrrxxxx Fraud Department, leave a message." Five messages later, no call. No problem with the credit card given -- charge was approved and remained in pending for a week, but resevations did not go through. Thanks Hotwire, I was a good customer and this is just the holiday gift for me at a time of much travel planning for the first months of 2013. Also, thanks for that warm feeling about my customer loyalty. Better Business Bureau?

I would like to express my discussed feeling I have experienced using Hotwire! I would like to report that me as an individual and as a role as the office manager in my organization that books flights will never consider using your company again. What an unbelievable nightmare it was talking to TWO of your representatives that had TWO different stories!! Incredible!!!

Trying to contact Hotwire by telephone is impossible. They do not answer, rather they put you on hold forever. I have been trying for over an hour.
