My experience with savers is frustrating
The Burlington Fairview store in Canada staff are unreasonable and complaints don't get answered directly at least for me
I belive Savers should make it known that unsold items are compacted at the back of the store and sent the dump
I plan on starting a protest and boycot til savers finds a way to ethically fond a way to give back to communities and stop sumping unsold donations I plan on trying to make this common knowledge
Don't compact our donations
I will be protesting the stores and hope to gain a following of others interested in the environmental ethics of savers

Savers in Canada and it may be a thrift store it's not a ethical store in Canada a most stored have a compactor at the back of the store . All unsold items get compacted and sent to the dump
The store rarely of ever in Canada lowers the price of the item instead it scared by the compactor sadly in a time when the poor can't afford food and household items savers Canada sends them to the dump most of the items are usable please reconsider there you donate to

I was interrupted rudely by a savors employee on lake mead/ rampart..
I've been shopping at savors with my mother who's been a high school teacher for 18 yrs, and for myself I've been coaching sports at local high schools reason I stated this is because I'm not rich nor I'm broke.
There is a manager at this store described as heavy set African American lady whom always in the front watching what people are buying etc etc .
I lately been coming alone practically buying out the store with several diff items,on this day she approached me grabbing my items out my basket asking me whT am I gonna do with this and thT and this item and that item, I gave her a look like what's your problem? she said she's been going through it today with people like myself and she's checking everybody baskets.i was very upset so instead of me buying everything I just purchased a couple shirts and said u can put all this back I'm cool.
I watched from outside there was nobody baskets being checked, I don't understand how she could low ball me and who is people like myself? Please talk to your staff especially the heavy set one at rampart/lake mead, she's rude and unprofessional. You don't take items out of shoppers baskets and ask am I going to buy item by item..

Ive come shopping to this store for over 15 years. And every single time i buy something especially furniture either they cant find it or its damaged! Today i came to look for a frame for my sons picture.i set it down and turned around to get the frame and it was gone!! I asked the manager if he could please ask over the intercom if someone picked it up but he refused to do so and i brougjt that picture in to find a frame for it.it belongs to me to my son!! And i am so very angry right now its one thing for them to take my basket and or lose the merchandise ive purchased butto take something that is already mine and then refuse to let it be known while customers are still in the store? That is not good customer service! Its a shame. So discouraging. And i want my sons picture back!

Eliminating fitting rooms is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. I used to love shopping at your stores, and donating to your stores, but will not be returning to any locations.
It's absolutely ridiculous to not be able to try clothing on, that you cannot return. I realize I can exchange it, but I don't want to exchange it for something else that I have to go home and Try on, and if I don't like it, exchange it again. I hope you see a decrease in business, as this is bad business. Your employees say it's because of shoplifters, well even if that is true, someone who's going to steal something from your store is going to do it either way. I definitely don't condone shop lifting, but in reality all of your items are donated to you free of charge. Now you're just upsetting actual customers who want to purchase products from you.

Question ? if in your corporation rules is there a policy that you are not able to go thru the register if that person is family? Well in Plymouth Ma store the supervisor made this decision . I will not be able to shop at this store and find this new policy Not fair. Please clear this for me. Do all of your stores have this policy?

Recently my daughter was hired at the Savers in Salt Lake City, UT on 33rd South and about 33rd East. The day before she was to start, she called and left a message for the manager named Tina, asking her to return her call, that she had some questions about the benefits. Tina didn't call back, so my daughter called her again and this "Tina" wouldn't listen to anything she had to say, and told my daughter she had already given her job to someone else! What a way to conduct business! My daughter was devastated with this phone call! Totally unprofessional TINA! I hope you lose your job! Millcreek Savers - TINA

I've rarely rencounter rude workers at savers , to date I've tried ude workers at savers they are usually helpful and kind. The issue is usually the management positions and without exception the rudest manager at the Cheyenne /Rancho (new mngmt) hopeful a small blonde with a demeaning attitude toward customers" barging into there restroom while I was on the toilet and started a loud conversation apparently with me in the stall and demanded to know the therapy dog status my dog was. Before I could answer she followed up with a swift redirect stating "if they're not they must leave immediately . My 2 small shift serve me by detecting incoming seizures be in the system redoing she blurry Red m, questioning my animals status as )woman waited until I was in the bathroom before bustling in and questioning my therapy dogs status while I was on the toilet. Before I could even answer surprised by the odd intrusion and timing. She blurted out "if they aren't they must leave the store immediately. I'm responded thru the bathroom door that one is certified but the other is not and that I had no ptroblem with removing them from the thrift store when I finished in the bathroom. She went outside and waited for me escorting my self and my cart to the front of the store and I asked security to keep an eye on my cart I'd be right back, when I put the dogs in the car and went back inside she was standing by the door telling me I could not park I. The spot I was in despite my handicap sticker on the car. I graciously replied I will move over two spots for her satisfaction and I did, I am a long time donator and shopper of savers and I've never had any manager from any store confront me in a bathroom about my therapy dog as a matter of fact I think it's against the llae to even ask, perhaps this manager in training should learn store policies and procedures as well as legal agenda with the handicapped before she insults customers as easily as she seemed to insist on doing attempting to embarrass me in front of store employees in the bathroom and at the front of the store chatting with security and appeared to be egged in by her own sense of power and leadership over these new underlings. Wether she was attempting to show employees whose boss or if it is a commen protocol to confront the handicapped when they take a bathroom break but either way this behavior is grotesque and innapropriate. It is my intention to let you know the way your new leadership role will affect your corporation. The next person might not overlook her ignorance and newness of her position and bring a civil suit against savers for harassment and discrimination . This charge of fdiscrimination could be seen as an opportunity to get a settlement award for having been abused emotionally and socially inside the store,

I was Shopping at the Midvale, Utah location. I was talking to associate Debbie. A man stopped and interrupted our conversation. I told him I thought his interrupting was rude. He told me he was the District Manager and he thought it appropriate to interrupt the conversation with a customer to discuss business on the Sales.

After my husband being a 10 year employee to you working through a pandemic and putting himself and his family at risk each and every day this is the thanks he gets. Eliminated bonuses, no longer a 401k match,no longer a $50 giftcard to savers for his Christmas bonus But a $15 giftcard to walmart instead!!! And 3 days of mandatory UNPAID time off for working so hard during the pandemic to "rest" even though it's the hardest it's ever been to stay afloat!
How very generous of you to think of your employees at this hard time , bravo savers!

I loved the Saver's store in Bristol, CT. It was the only thrift store left in Bristol, CT. All Goodwill Stores had closed, but that was fine because this Savers was so awesome. The store as organized and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. I just can't understand why you'd close this store when it was the sole thrift store for several miles!

Purchased a Vacuum for $30 only to find out that although it turned , it didn't have any suction power. Tried to return for a credit but was told only clothes and shoes could be returned. Called customer service at corporate only to be told there wasn't anything they could do.
Very sad way to treat customers that make purchases in good faith. I get that this is a second hand shop but the customer should be able to return the non-functioning item and he issued a credit!

I went to an savers location on lunch as some times I do in an rush ready to check out when I leave I just put the receipt in money in my pocket, as exiting the clerk reprint another receipt it seem odd, when I get in the car to put the money in my purse and noticed, I was shorted 15.00. I called and supposedly an manager comes to phone and stated she check the drawer and tape and saw on the tape she gave me 10 and 5 and ones how can you see the exact amount doesn't add up and it could have been 3 fives instead, I only received 3 ones and my change and that's all.

I applied for a production job at your Savers store back January because I was told of a opening. During this time been going in and checking to see about my application because I was very much interested in the position. When you try to find out from a manager nobodies can give you a straight answer. Received a call on Friday Jan 31, 2020 from one of the managers, said he would contact me this week to set-up an appointment for this week. Cleared my schedule so I would be free to show up. Nobody has bothered to contact me. Call this morning talked to another manager he sounded like nobody was scheduling appointments at this time. I think it's very rude for a manager to call people and say that their scheduling people for jobs interview s and not following thru with this. I noticed that the majority of employees are in rhe younger age groups. No older manager within the e5 years old range. Only about the employees in the older age bracket. Thats age discrimination. I féel disrespected and discrimated against. Thats also against Federal law. I believe why they donedgive me a chance to be hired.

I've applied at 2 stores in CT - Bristol and Meriden. I have a lot of retail, sales and customer service. You think I would get hired. But no?! Don't know what their expectations are but I've seen some incompetent lazy butts working for Savers - they need to hire better employees

I donated more than 100 bags of clothing and household goods to earn coupons with no expiration date, and now they have stopped accepting them. I wish they would do the right thing and honor my coupons or give me new coupons to replace them.

I have a situation where I believe I donated a piece of clothing to Savers that had something hidden in the pocket that I forgot to check. I called them and was told, "anything found in the pockets is perceived as an intentional donation and is processed for sale." What I lost was about $3000 worth of jewelry. If I intended to give this to you, would I have hidden it in a pocket? Why wouldn't something like this have been found questionable and at least held for a certain length of time to see if someone called on it? I do understand the volume that is collected. I also understand that my mistake is mine alone. What I don't understand is how a multi-thousand dollar find of jewelry in a pocket could been seen as intentional? I think a policy change is needed for cases like this. I accept my responsibility, but the ending could have been a whole lot better if these situations were handled better.

The Webster Branch of Savers is a great store with very good manager Gram. His last name is unknown to me. My husband and I frequent this store at least 4 times a week. My husband was in the military and servered in the Korean war. We were receiving a military discount, until today. Were told that it was no longer in place. There is very few in the store except or sales and senior day Tuesday. The rest of the days were frequented by military persons. Perhaps corporate is getting greedy , but this will lose customers, leaving a great store to have poor results. The merchandise is donated, I realize the over head is high, Many who shop there are low income persons and elderly. I urge you to rethink your policy on discontining of Military people. I will be using Savers less , along with donations. Remember the word of mouth is very negative advertisement. The workers at the Webster, N.Y. are so sweet and helpful, always friendly and smiling. You are making huge mistake , will lead to less customers.

Savers is a great store but I believe that it might be advantages to rethink closing your store in Salinas California.

It is the only decent thrift store in town, it is constantly busy, it is in a perfect location ( close to the freeway & across from the only mall in town), and it is my understanding that it is the highest profit store in this district, there are a great many low income families in this area, and the employees are terrific.

While I understand that store rental is the issue, I sincerely doubt that you will find a better location in this town.

I urge you to rethink you decision.

Dear Sir or Madame:
I am a regular donor and shopper at the Saver's in Natick, Massachusetts 01760. I stop there every day, literally, and do a walk through and on my days off, I enjoy a stroll. I have bought much, but it is the concept of churning used items and making some money for someone more disadvantaged that is what is the big joy.

There is a man of Spanish decent, I have not quite gotten his name, but I did take a picture of him, who stands there all day along scoping out items from all departments and fills up his carriage. He knows the clerks by name and has them stop the rack for him before they fully put it out in stock. I've been fighting with him to get women's belts and scarfs off the rack, before it even has been put on the wall!

Today, one of the managers gave him two brand new pair of Van sneakers straight from the back warehouse.

When I asked him with what he does with this stuff, he say he sells it on Ebay, The World and various other online sites.

I think this is unfair and it totally takes the pleasure out of going to the Natick store. If nothing else, your staff shouldn't show favoritism.

Help! Banish him, instruct your staff that he isn't a preferred customer.

I was just hired at savers in the Rochester NY area. I took a early retirement from a suburban School to finish my Masters degree. Well I trained approximately 2 hrs in sorting but my main job was intake of donations. The general manager cut my hrs. when I asked my immediate supervisor if there was some thing I did wrong she answered "no I don't understand why your hours got cut". The next day a employee got arrested for stealing from your company. Why are you not running a criminal background and drug testing checks before hiring. Just what type of people do you want working at Savers? Criminals? Drug addicts? Excuse me maybe I don't fit in but I am suspecting and will pursue age an discrimination case if I don't get a reply or reason for my "dismissal".

Prior to working as manager for Savers. I enjoyed going to the store twice or even three times a week, depending if I was close by. One day, I decided to just grab a slip and apply. I had many years as Mangers in my work history. I was just going to apply for a PT cashier. During my first interview process , the young assistant manager asked why don't I apply for a manager position. She said, I was way over qualify for cashier. I thought about it and told her lets do. I was hire on after several steps of interviews process. I could not be more excited to start. My training went by very quickly and i struggle a little bit but nothing I couldn't handle. I loved the employees and enjoyed helping the customers. The difficult part of my job was my boss. She would point out my mistakes in front of other employees and customers instead of waiting for the appropriate time to talk to me. She made me feel like I was 5 yrs. old. I consider myself professional and dress conservative. She sent me home 3 times saying I was not dress appropriate to Savers dresscode. I was put on my own by the fourth day. Each night I would write down questions and approach her in the morning for clarifications. Instead of showing me and teaching me. Her responds were very rude and tells me. You should have gotten things down by now, telling me to leave it and she'll fix it. I told her I need to know it in order not to make the mistake again. She tells me we don't have all day. I also have dyslexia since age 11 and numbers confuses me, but I have managed muti-million dollar company without any problem. I just have to look at numbers or count and recount a couple times to identify them. She made very rude gesture toward me during this process of training with her. she tells me, its elementary math, how hard is it? this made me more nervous to perform my duties. In the beginning, she told me it was my store do what I think its best for the company. During my shift, I would do some switching around (per company policy). The next day, she would say things like. Why did you do this, and tells me she hates it, and who told me to change things, did I have her permission. Again, not talking to me in private but almost screaming at me. I did not feel respected among my employees. Some of the employees felt sorry for me, some discredit my ability as a manager to lead them. They customers walked away, from the look on their face, either they felt bad or just didn't want me to get embarrassed. Soon, I find myself not wanting to go to work, but I didn't want to give up either. I continue to try and make it work in many ways with her. Finally, I told her I needed to have a meeting her. I expressed to her how it made me feel when she does does those things and asked her to please correct me privately. She did not feel she did any wrong and things got worse. Finally, I know that it wasn't going to change and with me being a happy spirit person. I felt that no matter what I did right or wrong. She would find ways to point out my wrongs. I left knowing it was bring me down and it was best that I remain who I am and not let her negativity invade my good nature.
Being a manager does not mean you dictates to other employees, you are their support and if you can't support or help them succeed then you should be one. Some managers take their title way too far. Forgot what made them managers. Remember where we all started at. Be thank full and grateful at the end of the day. Thank each and everyone for their hard work even if some don't, it will put a weight on their heart and they will also show improvements next time. Acknowledge who they are because they will be there when you need them. You as managers are only as good as the employees and customers say you are.

The customer service at the Fountain Valley California store has really gone downhill since the opening. There are several employees with incredibly bad attitudes. Today I was told I complain all the time and don't need to come to the store and shop anymore. This is in spite of spending thousands of dollars and donating constantly. I do ask about pricing when I believe it is a bit beyond thrift store. On numerous occasions Lillian has been completely rude and today Clarissa was the person who told me not to shop your store anymore. I bring neighbors and family in all the time and I always ask them to donate to Savers rather than the Goodwill. Someone needs to address the customer service in this store. What happened to welcoming a customer?

I sent a complaint last week about the lady that prices the furniture at the Franklin Park Savers and you have not answered me yet. I believe the manager there is Harold not to sure but he really needs to look in the pricing at that store , its getting out of hand , this is not a dept. store ,its a thrift store you are getting this stuff for free. You will loose a lot of customers that have been there since day one and it will be a sad day when we have to go to another one and give them our business because your not doing anything about it. The shelves are starting to get overloaded because of the prices. Please pay attention to this complaint. I love this store don't let it turn into Hoffman Estates that store is just horrible. I WILL WAIT FOR A REPLY

To it may concern:

I have just returned from a horrible experience at your Framingham Massachusetts store. The night shift ending at 7 PM including and especially the supervisor and all the employees under her have acted most unprofessionally.

I also own a retail store and cannot even believe how the employees were acting.

I have spent thousands of dollars at that location. And found the yelling and screaming and irresponsibility of moving carts with no regard to the safety of customers reprehensible.

I am currently a quadruple amputee in a large electronic wheelchair. Two of the girls ,one of which was ,the supervisor on shift could not control the cart and if not for two of the customers they would've injured me severely.

As we all tried to leave the store and purchase items they began yelling and screaming across the shop in Spanish to each other, it was totally rude and many people left without purchasing.

When the supervisor kept announcing that it was 50 5 o'clock... It was completely unacceptable there is no 50 5 o'clock in America ??? The last time I checked English was the primary language in this country and screaming from the front to the back consistently for over a half hour is just bad business.

Your corporation needs to take a good look at that store. When I explained there was no 50 5 o'clock and if they could please stop screaming I had four women including your supervisor and a man surround me sreaming at me that I was mean and I was a racist. Two of the women including your supervisor on that shift began yelling at me that they could do whatever they wanted?? Not to a customer they can't , In any country or any language.

I hire people from all over the world who do not act like your employees. Other customers began yelling at them that they should apologize at the very least, To ME.

These are employees of yours, holding your corporation liable for this incident, and I expect something should be done about this. That was criminal, verbally assaulting a handicapped person never mind the other customers.

This should not be tolerated by your corporation or any store supervisor should not act the way she acted to all of us.

I expected a response in a timely manner to this unacceptable situation.

WITHOUT

warm regards,

Susan Lane

Savers is a lie. They never have good stuff. DO NOT SHOP AT SAVERS. In Minnesota, the metro locations of savers all suck. They're clothing is dirty & yucky! They're more of a profit store than a chain of stores that care bout they're customers. The only thrift store shopped for years or for a fact DAY 1, was bought out by savers. f*ckers shouldn't of bought out Unique Thrift Store. Stores suck, prices are too high. NO ONE CAN BARELY SHOP THERE. You can buy new over used garbage.

BEWARE OF SAVERS, LIARS & CHEATS.

The Franklin Park Illinois store needs new management as this staff lies and deceives customers who are interested in buying jewelry, collectables, tools and electronics. Once they see you as regular shopper they slowly discourage any and all sales of those items by not making them available and when asked why these items are not available anymore they say "those items have already been processed and sold" even at the times I was told by them that these items would be priced and ready for sale and I should be there at those times, it was not the case. I and other customers have experienced discouraging and evasive actions by this management and it's manager Mr. Sal and we feel as customers belittled and embarrassed with this treatment. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Just wanted to take a moment to give acknowledgment to two employees at Madison-East Savors Store. I am 63 years old and while shopping in Savors last week, I mentioned to a young man (Named Brody) that I wanted to continue to shop but had to leave because I needed to take some medicine that required it be taken with food. He went and brought me a snack bar that was his. What a kind gesture on his part! Then when I was ready to check out, another young man (named Adam) told me my total bill and I realized that I was about .40 short to recieve a second stamp on my promotion card. He let me have the stamp. What wonderful employees work at Madison-East Savors. Keep up the good work!!!! Great Service. Will shop there again. Thank you for you time. Mrs. Judith Hutchinson

Hi,
I went my Savers, I DID highly recommend it to all my friends and have found wonderful items. I ALSO give hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and household items to them a year.

As I was walking around an announcement came over the overhead, and I didn't understand it. Had I moved to another country? Isn't this still Kansas? We live in an upscale area in KS, why the Spanish!!!!?????

I called the store later and spoke to Scott and he said that since Mexicans shop there, announcements were going to be in Spanish. I said that this was an insult, we don't live in MEXICO!! He said that this is what corporate wants, shame on you. I am an American, NOT a MEXICAN. If I were in their country I would learn their language, learn ours here!
