We had booked another<br /> <br /> motel reservation through Expedia in the general area for a trip we were<br /> <br /> taking to St. Louis. We planned on staying (3) days &amp; nights. After<br /> <br /> driving almost 6 hours from Iowa.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> We were contacted by Expedia telling us that the motel we had reservations<br /> <br /> at was hit by a tornado &amp; that they had made reservations for us at the<br /> <br /> Days Inn. We thought ok, that was acceptable since we checked out the Days<br /> <br /> Inn online. When we arrived we discovered that the Days Inn was nothing<br /> <br /> like what is shown online. In no way shape or form.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The first thing we noticed was the cleaning crew standing outside an open<br /> <br /> room smoking &amp; chatting with others. The outside of the motel was dirty &amp;<br /> <br /> unkept. When we got into the room itself....half the lights didn't work,<br /> <br /> the carpet was ripped &amp; torn. The linens on the bed were dingy looking &amp;<br /> <br /> the bed was not made as it should have been. The pillows had an odor to<br /> <br /> them. And, mostly the room stunk of something other than the heavy spray<br /> <br /> that was used. The TV was sitting basically in the middle of the room on a<br /> <br /> wooden table or something. The bathtub near the drain was rusty.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> My husband went to the desk &amp; told the clerk that the room was<br /> <br /> unacceptable. The clerk said that all we could do was cancel the<br /> <br /> reservation. So, he did...it wasn't 5 minutes and a knock on the door.<br /> <br /> Someone saying they had to check the room. Since I had unpacked a few<br /> <br /> things I told her to give us a few minutes. In about2 mins the desk called<br /> <br /> &amp; basically told us to get out.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> We had to drive around &amp; find a (decent) place to stay.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> My main concern is that the internet depiction of the Days Inn is<br /> <br /> basically a lie. And, that something needs to be done about it. We are not<br /> <br /> asking for anything other than an apology for the condition of the room<br /> <br /> itself. And, the staff to be more considerate. <br /> <br /> Thank you for your time.
