We have owned a 2008Suzuki Forenza for 3yrs. now and have had an ongoing problem with an acceleration problem since we purchased the vehicle in 2009. When either needing to accelerate from a stop, or also when needing to accelerate while in the midst of driving at a slow speed on a street or highway, the car will not accelerate even when you/driver pressed the accelerator all the way down to the floor! The car's engine has yet to totally die/stop running. It does after about a minute or do begin to increase once again in acceleration.
The check engine light does come on sometimes when this acceleration problem exists, but sometimes the check engine light doesn't come on. This problem had been going on with this vehicle on & off throughout the 3yrs. We have owned the vehicle.
We have taken it to our nearest Suzuki dealership's service department several times now. Each time they have done what they felt was needed to be done according to what the cars computer system has indicated was the problem, and the check engine light does go off & they've assumed the problem has been resolved, only to once again either weeks, months or days later after they've supposedly fixed the problem it Returns! ....the check engine light comes on again, but apparently once the computer code didn't even indicate the code for the acceleration problem, even tho we were once again experiencing the same acceleration prob. Finally the dealership contacted Suzuki Corp. technical specialist, & made the aware of the cars problem, & supposedly they helped the dealership providing service with a solution to fix the problem. A few days later the car Once Afgain had the check engine light on & was experiencing the acceleration (lack of acceleration!)problem. And then coincidentally right after we got the vehicle back from once Agsin supposedly having the acceleration prob. Resolved, the vehicle developed a new problem with the transmission! ...Itbdrops put of hear when shifting from park to reverse or drive when beginning to drive the vehicle.
Unfortunately/sadly I have read that other owners of this 2008 Suzuki Forenza have had these same problems repeatedly as well. : (
I finally contacted Suzuki Corp. & personally made them aware of the problems we have had w/ this vehicle, & that I have read online that other owners too have had these problems. They simply say they can not be held responsible for each dealerships lack of mechanic ability, & that they can only give the mechanics help if they contact them, and that that is all they are responsible for us providing the individual dealerships with is help to fix the vehicle, and will only continue to give technical advice to the service departments working on these vehicles hoping that the dealerships will eventually get them fixed. But apparently Suzuki Corp. only feels they are fulfilling their obligation by giving technical solutions, that only end up being temporary fixes to the problems this vehicle is having. :(
And apparently whatever it is that keeps these Suzuki Forenza's from being able to be repaired long term is not considered a serious enough issue to recall the vehicle.
I guess I know now why Suzuki stopped making this specific model.
I obviously regret that I did not do any research about this vehicle prior to purchasing it.
It is Extremely disappointing that there are employees working for Corp. who have been made aware of what seems to be an accidental manufacturing defect with something mechanical in these 2008 Suzuki Forenza's, yet Corp. has chosen not to recall these vehicles. I'm not sure how many we're manufactured and sold before they stopped making this model, but I have read online about several owners who have had repeated problems with this model of Suzuki.
