To Whom It May Concern:
On July 17, 2023 I went to Pohanka Chantilly Chevrolet Dealership, located at 13915 Route 50, Chantilly, VA, 20151 to look at what styles of Chevy trucks were available. To further explain why I went there was because I needed a truck to be able to pull a 5th wheel travel trailers due to my son who is permanently in a wheelchair. I was met by an individual by the name of Ian. Ian showed me several Chevy 2500 models, but none had the specifications I needed or was interested in. Ian than went to another individual by the name of Jonah Kemp who sat down with me and went over several options that were available.
That being said the way I was treated at the dealership was as if I did not matter as a customer or as if the representatives could have cared less if he made a sale or not. Mr. Kemp finally stated the only way for me to get the truck I wanted was to order it. So Mr. Kemp went through a number of options as to what I wanted on the truck I was to order. This all happened with such speed and confusion that it was hard to follow. Once the order was completed Mr. Kemp gave me the order sheet and stated now you go through it and make sure everything is there you want. To my knowledge I told Mr. Kemp it was. However, that being said Mr. Kemp knew exactly what I wanted and what I was looking for. I was then told it would take 14 to 16 weeks for the truck to arrive and I would have to put down a $1000.00-dollar deposit, which I did.
Fast forward to October 25th, 2023. Mr. Kemp send me a text via cell phone informing me that my truck had been on the dealership lot for several days and he had just now found out about it. So at 1600 hours, that same day I made an appointment to go to the dealership. Once there Mr. Kemp met me in the dealership show room and we spoke about the truck and he showed me the truck. Upon inspection I immediately discovered that a 5th wheel adaptor system was missing on the truck. That was the last time I set eyes on the truck. I was not even given the chance to see the interior or anything else on the truck. We went inside of the dealership and Mr. Kemp spoke too and informed his supervisor a person by the name of Hunter. Hunter came over and gave me some options regarding the 5th wheel adapter system. He stated I would give me a discount of several thousand dollars and I would wind up paying only ($1098.00) if I go to an auto body shop by the name of Trick Trucks located in Chantilly, VA. I said that was ok with me and stated to Hunter that I had a trade in.
Now this trade in is a 2021 RAM 2500 fully loaded, with only 30800 miles on it. Hunter went out and inspected the truck but did not come back with what he would give me for a trade value. Once Mr. Kemp returned he showed me what my finance would be and what my trade value would be for the RAM 2500. I stated to both Mr. Kemp and Hunter that the trade value was an insult. Hunter wanted to give me 34500 dollars for my RAM truck. Kelly Blue book values on my RAM 2500 is between 37000 to 42000 dollars. In addition, the total finance was way too high since Hunter would not give me what my truck was actually worth. I then stated that I would not buy the truck I ordered. I asked if I would be getting my deposit back which I placed in July and was told NO because that would be going to a so called re-stocking fee. I then left the dealership feeling dejected, robbed and taken advantage of by Hunter and Mr. Kemp. The truck I ordered sold to another person a few days later even after Hunter said that it would take a long time to sell since I had ordered the truck specifically for me. So in short I want my deposit back, an apology from Chevy for my treatment and for the dealership to be reprimanded for their poor treatment of a potential buyer / customer.
