On 01/19/2013; I drove my 2003 Honda Accord from Chantilly - Virginia to New York City with my wife and a multiple handicapped daughter for attending a wedding. Like always; car drove nice without any issue though I got oil changed and inspection from local shop in Virginia prior to departure. I got full tank of gas from Sunoco in Chantilly - Virginia. I parked my car in NYC in our friends' house drive way for three days as they were taking us around in their own vehicles. On 01/22/2013; I drove my car from NYC without any problem to Sunoco #7007, Ml 30.2 South, NJTP, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002 with same left over gas from Virginia. I got full tank of gas from Sunoco at NJTP using two prepaid gift cards of $25 each (total $42.75). After driving about ten miles; I felt losing power in my car as car engine started struggling. My wife asked me to take next exit to check the car. After exiting; I was fortunate to find a service station as I was not familiar with the area. The mechanic drove the vehicle around the block and asked me a question; when and from where I got last gas? I gave him answer; just about fifteen minutes before from Sunoco. Then he said; bad gas! He advised me to drive the car to burn the whole tank of gas. I was hardly able to make to my home destination in Virginia at night time with a patient of 'special needs'.

Next day morning of 01/23/2013; I tried to start my car to go to work; and car did not want to start. I had to tow (paid $125) my car to an auto shop in Sterling, VA for diagnosis. The tech checked the car with computer device (paid $60) and noticed ten different codes of malfunction. He told me; bad fuel caused the damage to the engine/censors and valves to hesitate and stumble as filter restricted the flow of fuel into car engine. Further he told me; due to bad fuel, engine was hesitating to start, stalling, very rough idle, reduced power and also with no start condition. Finally the tech was able to start the car and advised me to drive and burn the bad fuel.

Same day of 01/23/2013; I called Sunoco at 215-246-8769 and filed my complaint/claim with reference # 9687 254317893-4/452. I received a letter dated 01/31/2013 from ESIS (a third party) explaining me their investigating process of four weeks or more. They were expecting bad fuel sample from me; which they NEVER asked or advised me at the time of filing my complaint/claim on 01/23/2013. I called ESIS (third party on behalf of Sunoco) at 410-740-3996 and spoke to Tina Bornett. Instead servicing to my satisfaction; she declined/rejected my claim at the spot by saying; there was NO other claim from any other customer for this particular gas station. I feel; Tina did not like my follow up. Afterward; I received a note in the mail dated 02/01/2013.

I can see a clear disconnection as Sunoco/ESIS did not follow their investigating process as they explained to me in their first letter. Also they never asked me to save a bad fuel sample; when I called first time. ESIS called me on third day after filing my complaint. By that time; I added more gas to my car tank and it was too late to have bad fuel sample.

In order to bring back my car in safer drivable condition; initially I spent $221.75 to tune up the car and did not work out. Finally car engine died and I did not want to spend another $2,500 to get replaced dead engine with a used engine. Still it was not guaranteed; if the car would be in the same condition prior to getting bad gas from Sunoco, Cherry Hill, NJ. Finally decided to sell my car 'AS IS. condition to a local auto dealership and took a loss of $2,700 vs fair market price plus what I got. In order to go to work to keep my job and servicing my handicapped daughter's medical/personal and social needs; I had to be on rental car for three weeks and paid $319.74 as I do not have another car.

Now I have a replaced with another used car with additional debt of $8,500 on me. The hassle and stress especially with a mentally retarded/handicapped love one is immeasurable! Also to find a reliable and inexpensive used car is not a fun and I spent almost a month to find one.

Now I expect from Sunoco to reimburse me to cover my losses; a total amount of $3,468.74 - bad fuel $42.25, tow truck $125, initial diagnostic from TLC Automotive $60, tune up from International Automotive $221.75, rental car from Enterprise $319.74 and financial loss to sell my car 'AS IS' condition $2,700.

I am expecting Sunoco Corporate to settle my claim ASAP before I decide to consider other available options.

Thank you!
