We have always been huge HEB fans. Sadly, the way the store we go to on Slaughter and Escarpment has handled the pandemic has changed that. We are beginning to shop on Amazon, at Target, Walmart, and Randall's in order to avoid HEB. HEB is handing out cart wipes in such stingy quantities that we can't actually sanitize the carts. Insisting that everyone enter through one door and stand in line even to do that means that we're in closer proximity to people than we were prior to this practice. Most concerningly, this store has never returned to providing disposable bags. We get that everyone wants to protect the environment. We do, too. But reusable bags are petri dishes. There is research proving that they spread salmonella, listeria, and anything else you can imagine. During Coronavirus, it's a huge health risk to allow store patrons to bring in unclean bags, place them on the checkout areas, and this expose everyone to whatever germs and viruses are on the bags. A Texas court ruled bag bans to be illegal well over a year ago. Target, Walmart, and other stores quickly resumed providing free single-use bags (which can be reused, by the way), but HEB did not. Your other locations have them, so it's an easy practice to resume. I wrote an email to HEB about this a few weeks ago and got a cut-and-paste non-responsive and dismissive email. HEB can't afford to provide single-use bags at this one store to help protect customers' health? We'll sadly do our shopping elsewhere. Finally, how rude of HEB's spokesperson to publicly berate customers for actually coming to the stores. We're very disappointed. HEB has changed.
