I, Along with most who commented here, had a very, very discouraging experience with my Kmart lay away. I put $511.00 worth of toys/clothes for my 2 toddler sons back in november, early enough that when I actually went into the store, picked up the items I wanted, took them to the lay away department, and paid my lay away completely off within a 3 week period. this weekend, on saturday, december 20, 2014 I went to kmart at 11:00 a.m. to obtain my children's items. After an hour wait in line, I was told that my lay away would be pulled shortly and my name will be called over the intercom. So, I decided to do a bit more shopping as I wait, unfortunately as the 3rd hour approached, I decided there must be a problem. I walked back into lay away and saw my items stacked up on the register. I approached to retrieve my things, but one major thing was missing, a $300.00 jeep wrangler for my 2 year old. i asked where the item was, to be told that they are looking, still after 4 hours total. My husband then came into the store to approach the store manager, at which time we were informed that our item had in fact been sold to another customer, after 5 hours of looking. So, my husband got angry, the manager, Mr. Brown, told him he couldn't find a jeep anywhere, even were out to order online, handed my husband a piece of paper with a phone number to customer support and told him to call them for a resolution. Then my husband said no, I want a resolution now, we have to locate a jeep, I'll drive wherever I must to get it, the manager wouldn't even call a store to find, instead called the police on him. Then, I took it upon myself to call other locations, finally at 7:30p.m. I found one store, in alabama that had the jeep. So, we loaded up again, the entire family to drive another 1 hour haul to retrieve the toy so my son could have his christmas gift. So, finally at 9:00 p.m. the journey ended. I am disgusted at the actions of this kmart, the customer service, the online support operators, whom I was instructed to call for resolution, to no avail, the managers, the employees whom handled my lay away. WHY WOULD YOU SELL SOMEONE ELSE'S LAY AWAY ITEMS? EVERY BOX IS SUPPOSE TO BE MARKED WITH A CONTRACT NUMBER/NAME! HOW COULD YOU GUYS THINK THAT THIS IS NO BIG DEAL THAT A BABY WOULDN'T HAVE HIS CHRISTMAS BECAUSE THE EMPLOYEES AT KMART WERE NEGLIGENT AND CARELESS? I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY COULD ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AND NOT EVEN OFFER TO CALL OTHER LOCATIONS TO OBTAIN A JEEP AND RIGHT THEIR WRONG, ON THE CONTRARY THE MANAGER TOLD MY HUSBAND HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL HIM BESIDES IT WOULD BE A CIVIL MATTER! A CIVIL MATTER!?! NO, YOU SHOULD HAVE LOCATED THIS TOY, LIKE I HAD TO, HAD IT DELIVERED THE 2 HOUR DRIVE TIME I ENCOUNTERED AND CALLED ME TO THEN COME AND PICK IT UP. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED. TO TOP IT OFF, THE EMBARRASSMENT OF CALLING THE POLICE OFFICERS, FOR THEM TO ONLY TELL MY HUSBAND THAT THEY UNDERSTAND HIS FRUSTRATIONS! I AM OUTRAGED, AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN TRYING TO HELP THIS SITUATION ALSO ENCOUNTERED THE MOST RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER WHEN PLACING CALLS TO VARIOUS KMARTS. i WANT JUSTICE!
