On Monday September 7, 2020 in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee <br /> <br /> My Son and I were traveling back home to Mass from New Hampshire. While driving on the highway between 65-70mph, on cruise control, my Jeeps RPMs started going crazy. Without any warning lights or indication of a system malfunction The Jeep lurched forward and then slammed us, soo hard that I thought I got rear-ended. Shocked and scare I looked around realizing that I had not been hit and something was seriously wrong with my Jeep. So I try to step on the gas and put on my signal to get to the side of the highway. NO power at all. But we were still coasting forward. (There were lots of cars one the highway seeing as it was a holiday and a travel day after the long weekend.) So now I'm almost being hit by cars and thinking I'm going to get smashed into and both of us are going to get hurt. Thankfully we did not get hit but there were some close calls. (I had an angel with me) We actually coasted right up into a weigh station off ramp. <br /> <br /> I then put the Jeep in park and was shaking trying to understand what just happened and what I'm going to do next. I'm like ok well neither of us are hurt so I guess I don't call 911. All of a sudden we are ROLLING backwards down the ramp back towards the highway. I put on the emergency break and called my dad. He told me I need to call the Jeep roadside. I call them and tell them what happened. I then sit on the side of the highway for 3 hours with my son and we wait for a tow truck and a ride. We were 1.5 hours away from home. My best friend gets us and the tow truck driver tows it to the nearest Jeep dealership. ( Allen Mello Chrysler dodge Jeep and ram of Nashua, NH )<br /> <br /> The rest of the story also gets interesting and weird but basically Jeep customer care service is horrible. The Jeep dealership up there didn't even want to touch it they told me it would be over a week before they did anything but I could go get a rental up there and then have to bring it back once things are figured out. Jake from the service called me and said he acknowledge that it was making some scary noises and would look into it right away. Later that day I called back to see what was happening and Jake told me that there were no updates but it had been &quot;moved, but I don't know where it is. Weird since my car doesn't even move and it's not a big dealership. And then he told me it would be atleast a week until they got to take a look at it. I got a ride there Saturday since nothing was being done and found multiple associates sitting around chatting with empty bays for vehicles repairs. They somehow didn't seem as busy as they had made it sound.<br /> <br /> I brought my Jeep back home because I felt as though I was being lied to and that they weren't taking my issue seriously up there and I didn't want to have to go return a vehicle to them once I was done. Mind you jeep customer service did nothing for me I had to go and rent a vehicle out of my own pocket and they claim they'll &quot;reimburse&quot; me for it. I wasn't able to get a vehicle for a week waiting for them to figure something out. And hoping that I would not have to put this on my dime. But I had no other answers so monday 9/14 is when I rented a vehicle through hertz.<br /> <br /> Dealing with Jeep customer service was a nightmare and still is. So now my Jeep on Monday was at my house waiting for jeep to decide what they're going to do. So they tell me they're going to tow it to Hiller Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Where I originally purchased the vehicle from. And they were going to take a look at it. I had already expressed the Jeep customer service and my dealership that I would like a new car or to break my lease because I do not feel safe in that Jeep and I do not have any faith in they're transmissions after my life flashed before my eyes on the highway. It was a traumatic experience my Jeep also continued to try and take off on itself and kept rolling away while in park. I took videos of it to try and show how scary it was. Never mind while on the highway. And Jeep and all of the dealerships don't seem to care one bit about my well being and how this affected me mentally. People have gotten into major accidents because of this. People have died. A man was killed because his Jeep said it was in park and it rolled into him and crushed him!!!!! I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. <br /> <br /> So today I get a call from Hiller Jeep service technician. He tells me that he's &quot;ordered the part&quot; and they have it in a few days and get that death trap back to me. I ask him what exactly happened because I could've been seriously injured or dead and I'm a little concerned about what part this is and if My child and I are going to be safe in this thing. Which I don't care what they say I am not going to feel safe. I really don't want to take a second chance on that. <br /> <br /> According to him the PTU-POWER TRANSFER UNIT was faulty/defective/&quot;it let go&quot;. I said well this is a 2019 Jeep cherokee and it is only 1 year old how does this happen? And he said he doesn't know it just does. Ok. So then I start looking into that specific part.<br /> <br /> Jeep cherokee models from 2014-2017 had a recall on this EXACT part and then even some of the parts that got recalled and replaced STILL had to be replaced after according to articles.<br /> So now my 2019 Jeep Cherokee is STILL having this same issue and could've killed us on the highway. THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS on my Jeep and this wasn't even mentioned to me whatsoever. There are still clearly issues with this and no I DO NOT trust that these issues have been fixed seeings how this has been repeatedly happening over and over and this company still continues to produce these parts that are unsafe and allowing customers lives to be put at risk.<br /> <br /> I do not think that I should be subjected to keep this jeep and want to break my lease and have money returned to me from my trade in. And if I have to I will fight with a lawyer because this is a known issue and as a consumer I believe it is my right to not allow my safety to be put at risk again. They've had Years to fix this issue. How many people have to get hurt or go through what we went through? <br /> <br /> Note that no vehicle service light came on and there were no indications of something wrong until my cars RPMs started going crazy all on their own. I can't imagine what would've happened that day had I gotten hit and not made it safely to the other side of the highway.
