I've been shopping at HEB for years; I've had great service and experience. However, since the pandemic, the HEB pharmacies have been grossly under-staffed. I typically wait an hour to pick up a prescription; this is unacceptable. It does not matter whether I go through the drive-up lane (2 lanes with 10 cars deep) or go inside the store. My experience yesterday was the single line in-store filled a whole aisle. I decided to get my groceries first (big mistake); the line was longer when I returned. I spent nearly 2 hours in the store yesterday, over an hour with the on-store pharmacy line. Needless to say, the pharmacy staff can't handle phone calls either. The woman behind the counter was very nice; but this is not a sustainable business model.
