I have rented a minivan for my family and I to go on vacation. We siged the contract after our walk around with the sales agent, and the rental had damages prior to our rental. After leaving, we realized that we had a rental with expired break tags and license plate. I called the manager from the location that we purchased the rental and she said that if we get a citation, than enrterprise will cover the expenses. That's a non-moving violation and will be on my driving record and my insurance will go up. I was not satisfied with how she handled that, and I should not have had an illegal vehicle in the first place. Then, while driving, we noticed that the transmission was slipping. It had a hard time switching gears. So, we notified that manager again, she said that we need to call an enterprise near us to get a replacement. I live in LA and travelled to TN, on vacation. We were there for a week and I was doing as she said and was very unsuccessful at finding a rental for us. She did not assist me with this in any way. I called her the day we were to check out and head home to see what we had to do because I was not driving and illegally tagged vehicle with transmission problems, 12 hours to get home. She said that if I go to an enterprise, then I will be taken seriously or wait for the vehicle to breakdown and have roadside to come pick us up. I dont think so. We are not familiar with the city to go exploring for an enterprise and not to mention we had our 2 young children with us and my in-laws. So, waiting to break down was not an option either. At this point, I was extremely mad and told her what I thought about her laziness and horrible work ethics. I was a paying customer and should not have been bothered with this, let alone, thrown to the side to clean up her mess. In the end, roadside brought us a very down graded replacement (no T.V. for my kids on a 12 hour trip, not good). We were reimbursed part of our rental expenses and our hotel fees because we were held up waiting for a rental, and had to stay another night. Well, this was July 27, 2013. As of yesterday, I was mailed a bill for damages to the minivan, which was acknowledged on our original contract by the sales agent. The bill is for $1740.00. We did not damage the minivan whatsoever. I contacted the manager at our original location adn they had no idea why we were billed. The systems that enterprise operates off of is not conected to other branches. So I am assuming that the TN branch billed us without checking out the original contract or calling the branch to see if the charges were to be brought on us. I would suggest that this company connects with each other or beter yet, communicates with one another before making a very unsatisfied customer, more unsatisfied. Enterprise is number one in the car rental industry and we trusted this company for our vacation. And look what we have been through and are still going through in Septerber of 2013. Please contact me as soon as possible. I need these charges resolved as soon as possible, so they don't debit this amount from my account.
