On 9/13/2012 my husband was on his way to N. C when he stopped mid-day to gas up at your Sunoco Station at Carney's Point, N.J. When he got to the pump a worker took his CC and filled his tank ( we were told tyhis is a full service station). When asking if my husband wanted a receipt, he said no, for whatever the reason but I imagine it was because he was ready to continue his 12 hours trek and didn't give it a second thought. Upon arriving home and checking his business account on 9/18 I noticed there was a $105.14 cent charge for a tank top off at the Carney Pt. station. My husband stated ,at best, he filled about 12 gallons in our Chevy Malibu that carries a 16 gal tank which would have cost him @$42.00. Sound about right?
On 9/18/2012 I tried to contact the manager at the Carney station and the phones were out of service, per a female manager at the Penn's grove station going North, and are of today as well. The party at the Penns Grove was kind enough to call the manger on duty to ask him to check his records for the $105.14 charge. A call back from this wonderful woman informed me the manger said he could find no such charge and asked for the last 4 digits of my husbands CC, which I gave her, an approximate time of day, which I also gave her so the matter could be investigated more thoroughly by the Carney manager.
In the meantime my CC company had confirmed that the purchase was a pump purchase alone.
Having not heard back from either the Carney station of the Penn Grove I proceeded to call Sunoco customer service and spoke with Devon who informed there was, indeed, a charge made to my husband account in the amount of $105.14 on the 13th of September 2012. And that my only option was to file a dispute with the CC company which I had already done.
Curiously, one might want to ask how a 16 gal. tank would take $105.14 worth of gas and why did the fellow that pumped the gas not realize , when he swiped the card and filled the tank that the amount was excessive for a Chevy Malibu. Actually for a Tahoe on empty as well.. We have been given a few scenarios and I can honestly say we are not happy with any of them
We have filed a dispute with our CC company, we have no paper receipt, the manager at the station at Carney's Point said he can't find a charge for $105.14 at this station on that day yet Sunoco customer service can find the exact amount purchased at that station , on that date, on my husbands card. I am livid.
Yes, the potential is there for error and yes it will be rectified...in Sunoco's benefit because we do not have a "paper" receipt to prove otherwise. And although common sense would seen to be the deciding factor here the $60 plus we're out certainly will not take precedence over more important issues will it?
I would like this matter to be looked into with serious consideration so that we may rectify this asap.
