I just picked up my brand new 2015 Jeep Patriot on 1/15/15. Exactly one week after having the vehicle with only 156miles on it, 1/12/15, when I got into my car (on a rainy day...the first rainy day since I had the car) there was water coming in from the dome lights above the dashboard. There was water running all down the radio, heat/AC controls, gear shift, and some sprayed onto the steering wheel and dash, and both front seats. When I turned the car on, the CD player was making a clicking noise and saying "load CD" or "eject CD" and would just go on and off sporadically as I drove to straight to the dealer. Water would continue to pour out from the lights as I drove every time I made a turn, spraying on me as I was driving! So unsafe, making the gas/brake pedals slippery. I called the dealer and brought the car right in as soon as I discovered the leak.

I was told to drop it off at the service department, I did and then went over the the sales department. I spoke with the sale manager and explained to him what had happened, how I was very upset about this happening a week after picking up the car, and how I did not want the car anymore. I'm very upset about all the water damage and do not feel it is fair that I should have to pay for a damaged car.

A member from the service department came over to me and said that they will look at it in the morning and let me know the what's going on and fix it and hope to return the car to me tomorrow. He also set me up with a loaner car which I appreciate, but even if they "fix" the problem, the damage has been done to the car and I am not paying for a water damaged car. I want to return the car. When I got home from the dealership I called Jeep costumer service (800-247-9753) to report the problem. I spoke with a representative and I told her everything I said above, including that I no longer wanted the car. She asked me if I wanted the car replaced. I said yes, I would be more than happy to work with the Jeep dealership and have the car replaced.

I was called by the service department a day after dropping the car off for them(1/13/15) for them to tell me the problem was that the sunroof was leaking (which I had figured out already). I was also told that they needed to contact a Jeep service expert to determine if just the tracks needed to be replaced or the entire sunroof. They did not mention checking any internal parts for water damage that occurred. The vehicle was in the shop a week waiting for the parts to come in. I was called on 1/20/15 to tell me the car was done. I specifically asked about the radio and clicking noise and was told it worked fine. I asked about anything that had been done to address mold as a result of the water damage. I was told that there is a machine that could be put in the vehicle to suck out any moisture. I requested this be done immediately. I do not know why this was not done as soon as I dropped the car off, as it was just sitting at the service shop for a week waiting for parts! I told the service department that I had already been in contact with the sales manager and Jeep corporate and that I would not take back a water damaged car. My case is still being viewed by corporate and they will contact the dealer as well. I am waiting to hear back with a resolution (hopefully a new vehicle....without a sunroof!).

Unfortunately, it is now 1/28/15, I have been assigned a case manager in the resolution department who does not call me back within the 2-3 business days she told me she would. She also NEVER answers her direct line. I have left many voicemails and have tried calling at various times during business hours. No one has been able to give me a phone number where I can actually talk to a person that can give me some resolution. This whole process has been completely disappointing and very frustrating. I am now with out a vehicle and have no resolution since being assigned a case manager over two weeks ago. I cannot believe the lack of professionalism and customer care that I am receiving from Jeep. I am a loyal Jeep customer, as is my entire immediate family. My father already said he does not trust the dealership where I bought the car and we will no longer service our 4 vehicles there or purchase future vehicles there. Very sad coming from a brand I only had such positive things to say (until 1/12/15).
A word of advice do not buy a Jeep Patriot with a sunroof and save yourself this nightmare.
