I have a "Special Needs" daughter who is beautiful and the face of the grooming department in Auburn Massachuesetts for the past 15 years. Recently received her 15 year plaque along with news that grooming has eliminated washer/handlers. When told that she no longer had a position the thought was she could be trained and used in the store which was wonderful. Was told (crazy) after 15 years that she had to re-apply.. Really Special Needs with 15 years never missing a day?? She did with the help of my wife. Started working two 8 hours days per week three weeks later to find she has been cut to one 6 hour day per week. This is a shame and disturbing to this beautiful girl that goes to work every single day never missing and when grooming was short handed was ALWAYS there no matter what. For us it is not the money, it is about her ability to socialize and we would have her work for peanuts in order to do so. Any parent of a disabled child would understand the need for socialization. Petco, their management and HR should be ashamed. I certainly hope they are not receiving grants or tax adjustments for working with disabilities. I will certainly be working on finding that out. BTW how do you even find access to their HR? Shame on them.
