I visited your Fremont Office at 40580 Albrae St., Fremont, CA on 5/19/2015. I had gone in to the store to purchase some Tetra neon tropical fish's. I could not find anyone to assist me near the area where the tropical fish's are located. I stopped two different employees and asked them to assist me with the purchase and they advised me they were not available. I was on my way to the Customer Service Area to ask for assistant, and saw the manager, (on duty around 17:28.) Paul, walking toward me. I asked Paul if he was the manager and he looked at me then looked at his name tag. I apologized and explained to Paul that I could not determine if he was an employee because he did not have a name tag that indicated, "Walmart". Paul informed me he was the manager. I informed him that I wanted to purchase some tropical fish but could not locate anyone to assist me. Paul informed me that he did not have anyone working in that area. I asked Paul how could I go about make a purchase of tropical fish. Paul informed me he was on his way in the back but if I wanted to wait he would wait on me. I asked him if he was sure and asked him if he did not mind that I would wait. Paul informed me he would come to the tropical fish area after he finished what he was doing in the back. I waited for twenty (20) minutes and Paul did not show up. I walked to the Customer Service Area, saw Paul waiting on a person at the counter and stood in a line with three other people and waited for Paul to finish. Paul finished the person he was assisting and walked away. He walked to the Cashier's area and seemed to check on a few cashiers. He then returned to the Customer Service Area and I talked to one of the Return Clerks and informed her I was waiting for Paul. I informed her, he promised to retrieve some tropical fish for me. The clerk asked Paul who could assist me in the tropical fish area. Paul informed her and me that no one was working in that area and he did not have anyone that could assist me. I asked Paul if the tropical fish were for sale, and if so, how could I go about purchasing some. Paul simply, said, "there is no one working in that area". I went to Walmart, San Leandro Store, and made my purchase. They were extremely helpful there and had no problem assisting me. The only problem was, their supply of the Neon fish were limited and I was able to purchase only four @ $10 and $6+ respectively. San Leandro did not have the quantity of fish that the Fremont Store had. I understand why Fremont Store supply is greater- - because they refuse to make a sale. I would like to purchase some colors that San Leandro Office did not have. Can you assist me? Can you encourage Fremont Office to make the sale? I realize Customer Service is not important at the Fremont Office but I promised to purchase the fish as a gift to a child. How can I disappoint that child? Paul example of Customer Service is the worst I've ever seen anyplace. The employees can verify that I was never rude. I kept my cool the entire time. I would not shop at that store if I did not like the Pharmacy Department. Everyone in Pharmacy is so helpful. They recently told me I was one of their nicest customer. I did not want to spoil my reputation with them and I chose to ignore Paul's lack of Customer Service skills. Is there any training that can be provided to Paul? Perhaps the San Leandro Store could assist him in understanding what providing good or at least decent Customer Service is. Perhaps he had a bad day that day. I understand how difficult it is to work with the public. I worked in Customer Service for more than 40 years in a management capacity and understand that it is not easy. This is the reason I do everything I can to be a good customer and be patient, regardless of the rudeness from another person. Ask your employees in Pharmacy. They know me by name. I am in Walmart weekly. If you look back at my purchase, you will find that I do not spend $25 per purchase. My average purchase is normally near $100 and I visit the store more than once weekly. Let me know if you can assist me in completing my purchase. Thank you and I hope you can help Paul be a better Customer Service Manager.
