I do most of my shopping at the Kmart store in Bismarck, North Dakota, and seldom need to return items. Today, however, I tried to return a shower caddy that was purchased at the beginning of November as a housewarming gift. The shift manager refused to take the return because of the 30-day return policy. I was not aware of this policy until today. When I expressed my opinion regarding the 30-day policy, the shift manager said I was welcome to take my business to WalMart or Target because Kmart has plenty of other customers. I also purchased 11 Christmas gifts during the past few weeks. Because of the shift manager's attitude, I went home, packed up the Christmas gifts, and returned everything. The store manager waited on me the second time and was extremely courteous but explained the 30-day policy was a corporate decision. I no longer will be shopping at Kmart and will be spreading the word about this ridiculous policy. Perhaps Corporate Headquarters should rethink this issue before Kmart ends up closing more stores.
