I went to Walmart in Chehalis Washington tonight. First, the check stand that I went to had a malfunction and I waited longer that 10 minutes until they suspended the order for the customer and moved them to another register. The cashier rang me up and fortunately I had enough cash to pay for my purchase ($43.00) So as I was walking out, a Walmart employee stopped me and asked to see my receipt. I asked "what is all this about?" He said they were checking all receipts to make sure the inventory didn't walk out the door! However he had not checked the person just in front of me. There I told him I wouldn't be shopping at Walmart as much anymore and he said he was sorry to hear that, but I felt his words did not ring true. I was dressed in business attire, I am 69 yrs old and shop at Walmart every week for years. I have never stolen anything and I felt like this Walmart employee was acting like I was a common thief. I have to admit I got a bit snippy and as I walked away the man said "I hope you have a nice day as good as you are" His voice and manner belied his words and I was totally offended at his sarcasm. My groceries were in bags. The only choice we have in the area is Safeway, which I love. Safeway is more expensive. We don't have many choices for the other items at Walmart but there are some choices. Now I will just plan my purchases for when I can drive to Olympia or Longview for Fred Myer or Target. This is inconvenient but I feel so strongly about this warrants these actions. Thank you
