I'm a week behind from when I should have posted or contacted someone about this encounter. I was in the Bessemer, AL store and was looking for a part. The gentleman there was very courteous and went above and beyond in my opinion to help me locate the part I needed. He informed me the part was in stock in the Hoover, AL store. I drive to the Hoover store and walk into the store. I'm standing at the counter for at least one minute waiting on someone. I looked to my far right and noticed a guy sitting down on a stool maybe on his phone, maybe sleep, maybe daydreaming, I don't know. I walk over spoke and told him I was sent over from another store to grab a part. The first thing he asked was what time is it? Perplexed by his response, I pulled my phone out to see. I said it's 7:00 and showed him the time. He said, "We're closed!" I said I've been in here for at least two minutes and the door isn't locked. He looked very frustrated. The guy at the previous store wrote the part number down on some receipt paper for me so they would not have to look up the part. I told the guy at the Hoover store I have the part number. I extend my hand to give the guy the paper and he vigorously snatches the paper out of my hand and walks away. I was literally in shock and infuriated at the same time. Emotionally, I wanted to do a push off! I wanted to slide everything off the counter to make a huge mess so this individual would have to clean and reorganize everything on the counter. I knew deep down I would be wrong, so I aborted the thought. Then I knew the first thing I'd do. The guy comes back and says I have to come back the next day because the computers automatically shut down and he couldn't ring me up. He extends his hand to give me the paper back. I immediately snatched the paper out of his hand just as he did to me! I said, "I don't usually do that, but I need to show you how you took that paper from me. That was very unprofessional." He stated he was sorry. I continued to talk about his inexcusable conduct and he said, "I said I was sorry!" Before leaving I asked his name and he said Mike. I'm not sure what was going on with Mike and why I was treating that manner. I would love to say I will never do business with Napa Auto Parts again, but that goes against one of my philosophies. I won't stop a relationship with an entire brand based on the disrespectful actions of a hireling. That's not derogatory, I'm saying I understand the mindset of the shepherd who own the sheep versus a hireling who just watch the sheep. A shepherd will leave 99 sheep to find the 1 lost sheep, but the hireling sees no issue a feels he/she did a great job because they only lost one sheep. I can say I will no longer spend revenue in the Hoover location, but will patronize other locations instead. Thank you very much Mike.
